Roundtable discussion on “Advancing Mekong-ROK Cooperation in a Disrupted World”

On 16 September 2022, the International Studies Center (ISC) arranged an online roundtable discussion on “Advancing Mekong-ROK Cooperation in a Disrupted World” with the ASEAN-India Centre, Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA), as part of their ongoing cooperation. H.E. Mr. Moon Seoung-hyun, ROK Ambassador to Thailand as well as H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Thailand’s Ambassador to ROK gave opening remarks.

On the Korean side, Dr. Choe Wongi, Director, ASEAN-India Centre, and Dr. Cho Wondeuk, Research Professor, KNDA, shared their views on the overview of geopolitical landscape in the Indo-Pacific as well as the prospects for Mekong-ROK cooperation. On the Thai side, Mr. Suriyan Vichitlekarn, Executive Director, Mekong Institute, Dr. Watcharas Leelawath, Honorary Advisor, Bolliger & Company (Thailand) discussed the latest developments in the Mekong subregion as well as the role of private sector in sustainable development in the region. Mr. Kavi Chongkittavorn, Senior Visiting Fellow, KNDA, also talked about ways to improve Thailand and ROK relations in a changing world.
