     On 17 August 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Studies Center (ISC), co-hosted an online seminar on “The Mekong in the 2020s: A Game of Thrones?”. It was attended by more than a hundred participants from various government agencies.

     At the event, four speakers, namely, Associate Professor Piti Srisangnam, Director, Center for International Economics, Faculty of Economics, Chulalongkorn University, Assistant Professor Narut Charoensri, Assistant to the Dean, Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, Chiang Mai University, Associate Professor Pittaya Suvakunta, College of Interdisciplinary Studies, Thammasat University and Professor Sekson Yongvanit, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, shared their views on the current geopolitical landscape of the Mekong region, the roles of regional and great powers and the prospective role of Thailand in the region.
