On 5 September 2022, the International Studies Center and the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs organised the opening ceremony of the ISC’s new office. At the event, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered the opening remarks, which was followed by a special panel discussion on “Sustainable Thailand: Economic Recovery and Development”.

Three leading economists, namely Dr. Veerathai Santiprabhob, Former Governor of the Bank of Thailand and Member of ISC Advisory Board, Dr. Somkiat Tangkitvanich, President, Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI), and Dr. Supavud Saicheua, Advisor, Kiatnakin Phatra Financial Group, identified key megatrends that would affect Thailand’s sustainable development in the short, medium, and long term, and proposed policy recommendations. They discussed the issues of health and COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, food and energy security, and Bio-Circular-Green Economy model.

The event was attended by over 100 participants, including several ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, members of ISC Advisory Board, past and present senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as distinguished guests from partner institutions, universities, and think tanks.
