Seminar on “Climate Change: A Multi-dimensional Challenge and Implications for Thailand”

ISC and Institute of Global Studies, Thailand Academy of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts (TASSHA) co-organised a seminar on “Climate Change: A Multi-dimensional Challenge and Implications for Thailand” on 8 March 2024 at the Berkeley Hotel Pratunam. At the event, Mr. Wannee Nonsiri, Assistant Permanent Secretary of the MHESI delivered the opening remarks, followed by a seminar moderated by Ambassador Sompong Sanguanbun, Director of Institute of Global Studies, TASSHA. Three speakers, namely Dr. Piroon Saiyasitpanich, Director-General, Department of Climate Change and Environment, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Dr. Buntoon Srethasirote, Executive Director, Good Governance for Social Development and the Environment Institute (GSEI) and Energy Regulatory Commissioner, and Dr. Anuson Chinvanno, Director of ISC and Advisory Member of the National Committee on Climate Change Policy, discussed the climate crisis and its implications on national security as well as socio-economic and environmental situation in Thailand. They also exchanged views on possible measures to mitigate the climate effects as well as the role of government agencies and general public to address the issue. The seminar was attended by approximately 100 people from various government agencies, educational institutions, the business sector, and the civil society.
