As part of their ongoing cooperation, the International Studies Center (ISC) held an online roundtable discussion with the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS), Islamic Republic of Iran, on 10 October 2023. At the event, Dr. Khalil Shirgholami, Vice President for Research, and Dr. Alireza Gholipour, Director, Group for Asian Studies, IPIS, gave a presentation on “Latest regional developments around Iran, including Persian Gulf, Afghanistan and the Caucasian”. On the Thai side, Associate Professor Dr. Jittipat Poonkham, Associate Dean for Academic and International Affairs, Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat University, discussed the topic of “Growing competition in Asia-Pacific and its impact on Thailand and ASEAN”.

The two presentations were followed by a discussion on bilateral relations between Thailand and Iran by Mr. Charkrienorrathip Sevikul, Director, Middle East Division, Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, MFA, Thailand, Mr. Hosein Zanjani, Director, Asia and Oceania 4^th Division, MFA, Iran, and Mr. Mohsen Mohammadi, Senior Research Fellow, IPIS and former Iranian Ambassador to Thailand.
