The International Studies Center (ISC), in cooperation with the Asia Foundation organised a seminar on “Southeast Asia: Navigating a New Cold War?” on 29 August 2023 at Surasak Ballroom 1, Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn. At the event, Mr. Thomas Parks, Country Representative Thailand, The Asia Foundation, introduced his book entitled “Southeast Asia’s Multipolar Future: Averting a New Cold War”.

The book introduction was followed by a discussion by three distinguished speakers, namely Ambassador Sihasak Phuangketkeow, former Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Pipat Leungnaruemitchai, Managing Director, Kiatnakin Phatra, and Professor Dr. Cheng-Chwee Kuik, Head, Centre for Asian Studies, Institute of Malaysian and International Studies, National University of Malaysia (UKM). They shared their views on the ongoing geopolitical competition between the major powers and its implications for the ASEAN region. Approximately 100 participants, including ambassadors, representatives from foreign diplomatic missions, scholars, members of the business sector, and government officials, attended the event.
